Scenario: A toy you use during home visits is not on the National VISM list, and you are wondering what to do next. The following steps will walk you through adding a new toy to add it to your Site's VISM list.
1. First, coordinators must familiarize themselves with the toy categories and subcategories listed in DAISY. Click here for a complete list.
2. I will add a tambourine in this example.
3. Go to the National VISM list, select the Toy tab, and click ADD NEW TOY.
4. Enter all toy information and click UPDATE.
Some tips for finding out toy information:
- Confused about which category to use? Most online sellers list the categories and subcategories in the website breadcrumbs.
- Check the box or website for the recommended age range.
When a coordinator adds a new toy, its status will default to pending until our programs team reviews it. This ensures the toy is developmentally appropriate and catches inaccurate information. You will receive a notification once the toy has been approved.
