Historically, all books and toys used in the ParentChild+ program have included a clearly stated developmental age or stage, both in DAISY and in day-to-day implementation. Guide sheets must make this explicit by describing the developmental purpose of each material, why it was selected for the participant, and what skills it is intended to support. This ensures that books and toys remain aligned with children's developmental expectations and are implemented consistently across sites.
Why it matters
- Makes developmental appropriateness transparent rather than assumed.
- Reduces variation in material selection and strengthens fidelity.
- Helps ELSs intentionally scaffold parent-child interaction.
- Supports clear communications with participants about the purpose of each activity.
